not gonna lie to you, i think this beer and tequila tasting excites me a whole lot more than the molson canadian one!

san francisco sampler

at lori’s diner in san francisco, i got to sample the following six bits of ambrosia:

green flash’s le freak – 9.2%
speakeasy big daddy ipa – 6.5%
21st amendment brew free or die ipa – 7%
stone brewing arrogant bastard ale – 7.2%
deschutes hop in the dark cda – 6.5%
napa smith organic ipa – 7.1%

le freak:  i was leery of trying this one because its a belgian style tripel crossed with an american double ipa… but fears were for naught!  the hops, love the hops!  it didn’t taste belgiany to me.  clear and pale and delicious!  2 thumbs up!

big daddy ipa:  definitely bananas and bread, not the hoppiest.  clear and pale.  at first i only gave it one thumb up because it wasn’t doing it for me.  too fruity and not hoppy enough for me.  however, i helped one of my buddies drink theirs at the end, and i loved it!  so 2 thumbs up is my final decision!

brew free or die ipa:  malty and hoppy – what a great combo!  clear and pale and delicious!  nicely citrus on the hops, most enjoyable!  2 thumbs up!

arrogant bastard ale:  i’m pretty sure i’ve had it before, but just to be sure i figured i’d better order it!  yes, its mega malty and hoppy both.  i believe however that i am so worthy of this beer!  2 thumbs.

hop in the dark:  a black ipa – yay!  chocolate and hops together – fabulous!  yummy!  i love it!  i’d better be able to find it somewhere around the wilds of vancouver or imma cry.  3 thumbs!

organic ipa:  organic feels like such a green option!  i enjoyed this tipple, but there’s a flavour in there somewhere that i can’t put my finger on that i could do without…  i get the hops, i get the malt and the burnt sugar nose… but there’s something else in there dammit!  just the one thumb i’m afraid.

i was fortunate enough to find both the 21st amendment and the speakeasy on tap at other fine drinking establishments i frequented and enjoy full pints of their frothy goodness.

i love san francisco!
