beer pairing dinners

Kooner Hospitality Group is hosting two Moa Brewing Longtable Dinners this month! The dates are as follows:

Pumphouse Taproom on September 26that 7:00pm

Hop & Vine Taphouse on September 27th at 7:00pm

The events will feature five fine dining courses created by Executive Chef Daniela Iaci paired with five of Moa Brewing’s finest.

i will be attending the pumphouse dinner
i must admit i am not at all familiar with moa brewing, so i’m very interested in trying the beers and the pairings

from marlborough, new zealand, which is better known for its wines than its beers, moa takes advantage of all the wineries around and uses sauvignon blanc and champagne yeasts in some of their beers

legacy

its all about the 8 wired at legacy this week
new beers available at the vancouver liquor store:

8 Wired Brewing – Fresh Hopwired IPA – $10.55
Straight from the southern hemisphere brewed with three hop varieties (Pacific Jade, Motueka and Nelson Sauvin) fresh off the vine, this beer pours hazy amber in the glass with pine and herbal aromas on the nose. A silky body paired with slight sweetness and a vibrant finish help finish this fine brew off.

Chris Bonnaillie | Beer Supervisor | Legacy Liquor Store

Muskoka Brewery – Summer Weiss (6-Pack) – $15.70

Hark! Craft Beer from the vibrant province of Ontario, brewed to capture the essence of summer in a bottle. Pale yellow and hazy when poured from the bottle, this one hits all the right notes when it comes to Hefe: cloves, banana and citrus on the nose with more cloves, bright citrus and spicy yeast on the palate.

Conor Marshall | Beer Team | Legacy Liquor Store

8 Wired Brewing – Mighty Imperial Ale – $10.55

Another fabulous craft beer from the gorgeously green islands of New Zealand, this smoked and oaked Imperial Ale is a dark clear amber colour with an aroma of spruce, caramel, wood and raisins. On the palate, smoke and oak intermingle on a backdrop of burnt sugar to help finish it off.

Russell Luck of the Irish – $6.95
A locally brewed beer to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day the right way. Rich red in colour courtesy of roasted barley, its palate of toffee and caramel make this malt forward beverage a must for any Irish festivity.

Driftwood Twenty Pounder – $8.95

When has Driftwood ever done us wrong? Their Double IPA drops an IBU bomb of Cascadian citrus hop, with citrus and everything nice bouncing around on the nose and palate. Pick it up before it rolls out the door.

From Pilsner to Porter this special New Zealand six-pack has something for everyone, showcasing Tuatara Brewery, New Zealand and the local craft beer scene.

Moon Under Water Potts Pils Unfiltered – $6.95

New owners, new brewmaster, new beer, new brewery. First on the docket, Potts Pils, an unfiltered hop-conscious beer brewed in the style of a northern German pilsner. Grab it while it lasts.

Epic Hop Zombie – $10.35

Coming all the way from Auckland, New Zealand, Hop Zombie is a Double IPA with punch. Zesty citrus and tropical fruits on the nose and more of the same with a touch of malt on the palate. Pick up a bottle and put a little Kiwi in you.

Epic Epicurean Coffee & Fig – $22.55

Another brew from the boys at Epic inspired by all the creatives out there: dark chocolate, molasses and fig account for the nose, with black liquorice, coffee, fig, vanilla and so much more making up the palate. These guys know what they’re doing.

Tofino Brewing Company Tuff Session Ale – $7.05
Afraid to brave that mountain pass? Don’t worry, we’ll bring Tofino to you. This Tuff Session Ale is copper in colour, with notes of caramel and nuts on the nose. A malty flavour with subdued bitterness creates a truly sessional ale.

Created by blending together one, two and three-year-old oak-aged lambics, this gueze boasts barnyard funk, citrus and green apple on the nose with a sour, dry finish.
