from sixpoint brewery:

Sixpoint Brewery

We can all admit it — a Season Creep lurks among us. He calls, quietly at first, for his seasonals a bit earlier. A saison in January, summer wheat in April… it seems harmless at first brush. Blink twice and you’re standing on your buddy’s front porch, holding the pumpkin beer you just brought to his Fourth of July party.

Enter Global Warmer, an original Mad Scientists creation formulated in a garage laboratory. It has brazen, incandescent hop character, and enough rich red malt to warm you through any time of year. It doesn’t even matter how mixed up the seasons get — wear a scarf with short-shorts if you want, we don’t mind! — this is authentic beer crafted to highlight beer’s natural elements.

Global Warmer is part of Sixpoint Cycliquids, a beer series that lets us make the beer we want, when we want it. It’s hoppy, malty, and now in six-packs. Savor one and watch the Season Creep slink away.

But what does early 2015 hold for Sixpoint? The triumphant return of some hop gold, a BEAST ready to rear his head, and loads of new formulations beyond that. With the Mad Scientists and the Cycliquids series, you never know what comes next…

Introducing 4 new hand crafted tonics from the Phillips Fermentorium!

Tonic 4 Packs

4 different hand-crafted tonics in 1 box!

December 10th 2014 – We are very excited to announce the release of four brand new hand-crafted tonics! The second product to emerge from the Phillips Fermentorium, these tonics are made without any artificial flavours or liquid sugars.  Instead, real ingredients and time-honoured extraction techniques endow the tonics with full, natural flavours, and balance tart with the subtle sweetness of raw cane sugar.

T he mixed pack contains 4 different tonics, designed to celebrate different nuances in your pairings or cocktails. From classic tart, to floral, citrus, and sweet, there is a tonic to match whatever recipe you have up your sleeve.

Tonic 4 packs are available from private, craft focused retailers in BC and of course Phillips Brewing Co.  To get the rundown on each of the tonics included in the box please see below!

Artisanal Dry:
It’s a classic style tonic with a twist.  Orange peel, white grape juice, lime peel and quinine are lively carbonated balancing bright tartness with a hint of sweet.  The Artisanal Dry Tonic was crafted to highlight complexity of STUMP Coastal Forest Gin* , but will breathe life into whichever premium spirit companion you pair it with.

*STUMP Gin is available in select cocktail bars now, but stay tuned to January for broader release details…

Cucumber Mint:
During the crafting of this tonic, natural flavours are extracted by patiently steeping real cucumbers and mint in cold water.  Twist the cap, and cucumber aromatics dance from the bottle, leading to fresh cucumber flavours with a hint of mint, all wrapped in a body of soft sweetness that finishes slightly tart.

Philosopher’s Brew:
Philosopher’s Brew Tonic offers a sophisticated depth of flavor that’s refreshingly approachable.   Herbal flavours of lavender and rosehip blend with the citrus of lemongrass and orange peel.  Slightly sweetened with raw cane sugar.

Botanical Brew:
Pouring a delicate soft pink colour, the Botanical Brew Tonic is refreshingly floral and strikingly effervescent.  Rose petals, hibiscus flowers, heather flowers, damiana  and lavender are complimented by a subtle sweetness through the body that finishes dry.  Charge up your next cocktail with a little flower power.

Kansas City BBQ featuring Top Gun Pilsner!

Do you love the movie Top Gun? We do, too! The movie is celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary this year and what is a better way to celebrate than with beer, especially since the bar scenes were filmed at our local bar: Kansas City BBQ!
Per KCBBQ’s website: The location director for Paramount Studios was driving through downtown San Diego in search of locations during the filming of “Top Gun” at Miramar NAS. After stopping in for a beer, he like the joint, and brought back the director, Tony Scott, who approached them about the possibility of closing down for a day to do some shooting.
Green Flash created a special beer for the anniversary: Top Gun Pilsner! TGP is a Bohemian Pilsner, full of life and flavor from premium European Pilsner Malt and Noble Hops. A traditional Pilsner lager yeast ferments the beer and imparts a specific, clean flavor during the one month lagering period. Of course our Pilsner has a bit more hop than even the best European examples which makes it truely a Green Flash Original. We hope you’ll come out to enjoy a pint!
Mira Mesa Tasting Room is OPEN 6/1!
Join us as we celebrate another monumental day for Green Flash: the opening of our Mira Mesa Tasting Room on June 1st at 3pm! Come check out our new facility and taste a couple brand new beers.

Tasting Room Hours:
Wednesday – Friday: 3pm – 9pm
Saturday & Sunday: 12pm – 9pm

“TIE ONE ON”

PINTS FOR PROSTATES, PIKE BREWING COMPANY,
Us TOO International, and DENDREON Corporation
A Charitable Event: Thursday, June 16, 2011
Seattle WA – June 1, 2011

Cheers, Bottoms Up, Down the Hatch… Men have hundreds of words for drinking, but a very limited language to discuss their health, particularly issues such as prostate cancer. They may know their IPA but do they know their PSA? At Pike Brewing Company on June 16th “Tie One On” is not about drinking. It’s about the blue ribbon, and raising mens’ prostate health awareness. Timed for Father’s Day, Pike’s Pints For Prostate is a great way to bring families together to combat this all too prevalent disease. Come support a campaign that is reaching millions of men through the universal language of beer. Every pint benefits the cause, so bring your friends and raise a glass to fight prostate cancer.

Pike Brewing Company presents Pints for Prostates, a charitable fundraiser to help fight prostate cancer. The entire day, beginning at 11 a.m., will be dedicated to the Pints for Prostates cause. Twenty percent of the proceeds of every beverage sold that day will be given to the Pints for Prostates campaign and Us TOO International. Highlighting the day is a special evening event from 6-9 P.M. in the Museum Room at The Pike Pub. Representatives from Pints for Prostates, Us TOO International, Cancer Care Alliance, and Dendreon Corporation, who are helping support the event, will be on hand to answer questions about detection, diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, a silent auction and raffle will be held during the evening event. Enter to win a Beer Lover’s Dream Trip: The Pints for Prostates European Beer Tour for two to the European beer cities of Prague, Bamberg and Munich for Oktoberfest September 9-19, 2011. The trip for two includes nine nights accommodations, travel by private coach, rail and public transport; transit passes in Prague; brewery visits, beer tasting, entrance fees and tours (see itinerary), breakfast daily, four dinners with beer, three beer lunches, and trip leadership. Air travel to Prague and from Munich is not included.
Pints for Prostates is a 501(c)3. Through the universal language of beer, this campaign encourages men to take charge of their health. The group was founded by prostate cancer survivor and beer writer Rick Lyke in 2008. The grassroots effort raises awareness among men of the importance of regular health screenings and PSA testing by making appearances at beer festivals, social networking and pro bono advertising. According to the National Cancer Institute, approximately 218,000 new prostate cancer cases were diagnosed in the U.S. in 2010. More information is available at http://www.pintsforprostates.org. Pints for Prostates also has a presence on Facebook and Twitter (@pints4prostates).
Pike Brewing Company is proud to partner with Pints for Prostates, Us TOO International and Dendreon Corporation to make this a successful event. We encourage you to invite your brothers, fathers, husbands and friends to join us in lifting a pint of Pike; “through the universal language of beer” we can help effect a cure!

Pike would like to thank Square Tomato LLC, an award winning Seattle advertising agency, who generously donated their time and creative talents in support of the Pints for Prostates cause.

The Pike Brewing Company is a family owned brewery located 1/2 block South of the entrance to the Pike Place Public Market. It is owned by Charles and Rose Ann Finkel who founded it in 1989.

GREEN FLASH BREWING CO. EXPANDS TO 45,000SF BREWERY IN SAN DIEGO
San Diego, CA – May 2, 2011 – Green Flash Brewing Co. is proud to announce the opening of its new 45,000sf brewery located at 6550 Mira Mesa Blvd. in San Diego. The official opening is June 1, 2011. The facility consists of a state of the art brewery, office space and a 4,000sf tasting room. Chuck and all of our brewer’s will bring the same passion and spirit to the craft, but will now have the tools available to ensure great quality and consistency in every batch while producing enough to satisfy the great demand for our ales. The added capacity will also allow us to expand into select new markets after we have fulfilled the orders within our current distribution area.”

Green Flash Brewmaster, Chuck Silva, added, “I’m very excited to have brand new, custom built, state of the art brewing equipment to brew on in our new facility in San Diego. While the new equipment will help improve our quality, efficiency, and throughout it will also give us the ability to expand the line up with new releases, and extend our seasonal and specialty offerings in the bottle as well as on draft. It really is a dream come true to brew beer at this level and on this scale, allowing me to share my craft with so many people.”

Green Flash will showcase its award-winning beers to the public in its new 4,000sf tasting room. Green Flash Silva Stout Release!

Friday, October 1st, 4pm – 8pm

Please join us on Friday, October 1st in the tasting room from 4pm – 8pm to celebrate the release of the Silva Stout!

A bit about Silva Stout:
Green Flash Brewing Co. is proud to announce the release of Silva Stout. “Silva Stout is named for our brewmaster, Chuck Silva, and is a tribute to Chuck and our entire brewing team. It is their hard work and dedication to our craft that has made Green Flash one of the premier specialty ale breweries in the country,” according to Mike Hinkley, Green Flash founder.

Chuck Silva, on making the beer: “Silva Stout took a lot of patience. We aged our Double Stout in oak bourbon barrels for seventeen months. Flavors are very complex. It starts off with dark chocolate truffles rolled in cocoa powder. Next is the vanilla and wood notes, with rich cherry-like fruitiness. After racking and filtering the ale, we blended in just the right amount of freshly brewed Double Stout to provide the perfect balance of bourbon barrel aging and freshness. Enjoy the culmination of years of flavor development now – no further aging required!” Silva Stout is a special, limited release and currently available only in four packs at the brewery during the tasting room’s public hours.

We hope to see you at the release!
– Cheers –
